The Name of Jesus Through A Wall
—Right now, 253,000 New Testaments and Bibles are ready to be transported across the border into Iran.
To reduce the risk of the New Testaments being confiscated, the transport is carried out in creative ways and in smaller quantities each time. Unfortunately, we can’t go into more detail for security reasons, but once the books are inside Iran, they are placed in storage locations throughout the country. The reason for this distribution is again security: if one storage site is discovered, not all materials are confiscated.
Transporting them into the country and across the border is difficult, and therefore it costs 43 kroner per New Testament in shipping. Can you help us get the New Testaments into the country?
The New Testaments that are now ready to be brought in are highly anticipated. Local congregations are excited to hand them out to everyone who asks for God’s word—just like in this story about “Yasser”:
“Yasser’s” life with Jesus began when he had to stay home due to a broken arm. One day, he heard sounds from the neighbour’s apartment. As he listened more closely, he heard the word “Jesus” several times. “Yasser” was not religious, but his curiosity was sparked. He knocked on the neighbour’s door to find out what was going on, and she explained that they were praying to Jesus. In fact, they were praying at that very moment for their neighbours and the whole neighbourhood. “Yasser” received a New Testament, which he immediately began to read, and Jesus fascinated him. He visited the neighbour several more times, and this became the beginning of a new life for him. It all happened because the neighbour had the courage to give him a New Testament.
“Yasser’s” neighbour was part of a house church. There are many such house churches in Iran, and more and more people are becoming Christians. The New Testament is important both for those curious about the Christian faith and for those who have become Christians. Now the books are ready at the borders of Iran, but we need your help to transport them in!
