The Scottish Bible Society is a founder, fully independent member of the United Bible Societies - a fellowship of 145 Bible Societies at work in 200 counties worldwide. As a member, we are at work helping in the fields of translation, publishing and distribution of the Scriptures.2009 was our 200th anniversary and as a result of the generosity of our supporters £138,000 were raised to provide a multi-purpose vehicle which is currently visiting the north-east of Brazil providing a holistic ministry for some of the poorest people in South America.
In 2010, In addition to our work here in Scotland, we are supporting the people of Haiti with food, water and water treatment plants followed by specially selected Scripture portions to help bring hope in the months that lie ahead. In Peru we will helps hundreds of children to attend a Scripture breakfast programme where they learn about Jesus, learn to read and receive one square meal a day.
Further Scripture programs include translation and distribution work in Vietnam, Africa and the Middle East.
