Alex Ferns (EastEnders) stars as Jimmy Kerrigan, a Glaswegian hard-man who, after nine years in jail, is desperate to go straight despite pressure from his gangland boss (James Cosmo, from Braveheart). Released from prison, his 'anger management' classes see him playing Jesus in the annual church passion play. With the help of Father Flynn (Tom Georgeson), Jimmy throws himself into the play with a fervour no one expects, a decision that is to have dramatic repercussions throughout the entire community and the gangland world.
