Biblefresh things you can do…

  • Hold a ‘favourite passage/verse evening' - when members of the church say what their favourite verse is and why...

  • Get members to write out in one sentence what the Bible is all about.

  • Ask the church to take photos which help them to understand what a particular verse means. e.g. "You are the salt of the earth."

  • Prepare questions about works in a local art gallery and then tell the church to visit and answer the questions. e.g. What do you think the artist was trying to say? Is there a Bible verse which would be appropriate? How do you feel looking at the painting of ...?  What would you say to the people portrayed in the painting to help them cope in that situation?

  • Draw a sequence of pictures to illustrate for example - the prodigal son or Daniel and why he was put in the Den of Lions.

  • In the summer go up a mountain and read The Sermon on the Mount.

  • Plan a readathon when the whole Bible is read aloud over a weekend.

  • Write a story about how people felt when they encountered Jesus, e.g. Mary and/or Martha, read the best out at a Sunday Service.

  • Discuss what you think are the 4 main principles in the Bible story e.g. Creation, Fall, Promise, Fulfilment or are there more?

  • Ask people to pretend to be a slave girl, business person and civil servant (see Acts 16 to learn more about the characters) and read Philippians to them and see how they feel at the end.
