Caribbean: trouble in paradise
OBJECTIVE: Supply 12,000 English,French&Dutch Bibles
TARGET: £60,000 - ACHIEVED: £55,000
White sand, crystal clear seas and wall-to-wall sunshine - it's no wonder the Caribbean is a mecca for the rich and famous and a ‘must see' destination for cruise ships.
But years of political instability and recent devastating storms have killed tourism in some areas. Parts of Jamaica have a high level of violence. Around 80% of Haitians live in abject poverty and life expectancy is forty-seven - Haiti is often referred to as the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
The Salvation Army and local Bible Societies are following the example of Jesus by reaching out to the poor and marginalised with God's message of hope in the Bible. They are also offering practical help, tackling other problems associated with poverty such as literacy.

A single donor in Scotland has given a donation of £3,000. Let’s give thanks to God for his gift and love for those in need.

To date, there has been a very good response to the Caribbean project. Your support has provided a total of £50,000 – enough to provide 10,000 Bibles.
