Summer Opportunities
"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3. Reflecting on these words of Jesus and my recent experience of SU camp, I am challenged in the following ways.
Overcoming fear
Days are full of exciting and demanding activities. There was visible change through the week as fears of heights or water or public speaking were conquered. Being willing to go beyond our own comfort zones and try new things is a great thing.
Asking questions
Young minds are full of questions and our campers were not slow in asking. What curiosity and what honesty! Children encourage us to be real and to keep exploring.
Open minds and open hearts
At the start some children were wary of and even resistant to the Christian nature of the event. What a joy to see a growing openness. Several did not have a Bible and when given one at the end of the week their reaction was sheer delight.
Please pray for all the young people who will be at Christian activities this summer – what an opportunity!
