Will your heart be refreshed this summer?

As soon as the school holidays started I spent a week at SU camp with 39 primary-aged children.  What a healthy holiday!  In the beautiful setting of a Scottish glen, children and adults alike enjoyed the great outdoors, trying new experiences from raft-building to abseiling to gorge-walking.  Indoors we climbed crates, shot arrows at targets, created lovely gifts to take home  and even taught the Bible to the rest of the group. We were stretched physically, emotionally and spiritually.

When Paul writes to Philemon about a particular matter, he puts in a wee aside that is quite revealing.  In chapter 1: 6,7 he seems to suggest that being spiritually active helps us grow in our understanding of what Christ has done for us.  No armchair faith!  This spiritual activity leads not only to our own refreshment, but to others being encouraged and refreshed too.  It's a great goal for the summer - hearts, minds and bodies refreshed.

Have a refreshing summer!    - Elaine
